Paul Davis was raised in Greensboro and now lives in Cary. He has been in private law practice continuously since 1984. He brings a deep understanding of academic construction law to his contract disputes practice. He has studied and briefed virtually every aspect of construction contract law and routinely provides clients with answers and opinions on a variety of legal questions.

EDUCATION

Mr. Davis received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1979. In 1984 he received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

After law school Mr. Davis worked for the Raleigh law firm of Boyce, Mitchell, Burns & Smith. In 1986 he accepted a position as an editor at the National Institute of Construction Law, Inc. This company was formed to author and present seminars, treatises, articles and newsletters on construction law topics. He performed editorial work for the company until he left to join Conner Gwyn Schenck PLLC in 1999.

COURT ADMISSIONS

Mr. Davis has been admitted to the North Carolina State Bar continuously since 1984. He is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND AFFILIATIONS

Mr. Davis is a member of the American Bar Association and the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. In 1990 he served as editor of the Change Order, the newsletter of the Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. From 1996 to 1999 he served on the Council of the North Carolina Bar Association Construction Law Section, and served as its secretary from 1997 to 1999. From 2000 to 2001, he served as Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Construction Law Section. From 2002 to 2003, Mr. Davis served as Chair of the Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. He is a frequent contributing author for the North Carolina Bar Foundation Continuing Legal Education programs. He is also a member of the Wake County Bar Association.
